Escape rooms are one of the best ideas for hanging out with friends, going on a date with your significant other or simply chilling with your family. For each of these occasions, the setting is slightly different which means that some things may have to change as well. One of the things to consciously prepare for when going to an escape room is what to wear. While comfort is top of the list of things to consider, your escape room partner(s) come very close in second.

A day out with your family may mean you have to dress smartly, hanging out with friends could be totally casual or semi and date may simply mean your wardrobe choice has to be casual and appealing. Despite the different circles of accomplices, there are some outfit options that you can always rely on, to work for any type of setting in an escape room. These may include any of the following:

What To Wear To An Escape Room?

Comfortable shoes

There is a lot of moving around, and the occasional jump of excitement, in an escape room. It is best to wear shoes that you can be in for hours, without discomfort. Sneakers and closed-toe flat shoes are your best options for footwear when going to an escape room.

Light sweater or Tee-shirt

The thinking and deciding process can be really strenuous, and you really do not want to add the discomfort of a tight cloth to all that will be going on. Also, you may have to bend or reach high to solve some puzzles and it is just better to be as comfortable as you can be.

Fit jeans

Note the word ‘fit’. Not too tight, nor too loose. Just the right size for you. You don’t want to risk a rip while trying to reach for something or bend over to pick a fallen piece. Baggy jeans don’t work either, you need to be able to move around freely, and loose ankles may make you trip and fall –a scenario nobody wants to experience.

Non-restricting shorts

Just like jeans, these should not be skintight or waist-loose. They are ideal for a summer trip or warmer weather but advised against for drafty conditions.

Dungarees

Basically, shorts and an adjoined suspender/ top. This is literally, the best option for when you don’t know what to wear, and it ticks all the right boxes.

While these are things that you can modify to fit the occasion, there are some clothing which you should never consider for an escape room. These ‘should never be considered’ items include, short dresses, jewelleries, heels, and other tight clothing/ easily removed accessories.
